Ferguson was born in Wisconsin along the shores of Lake Michigan and During his mid-teens the family moved to New York; there, he enrolled in Cornell University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree concentrating in Environmental Sciences. Following his graduation, he joined the Massachusetts National Guard.
