Ronald Simmons

Ronnie Simmons was born on August 19, 1948, and has always lived in Friendship.  His special interests include hunting, riding his Harley, and seeing his three grandchildren.  Simmons owns Simmons Lobster Wharf in Friendship, Maine, and has been in business since 1971. He buys lobsters from about 20 local fisherman and then resells them. Her describes a typical work day and the changes in the industry over the years.

Gilbert Simmons

Gilbert Simmons was born on November 25, 1949, and has always lived in Friendship.  He is a lobster fisherman who builds lobster fishing boats in he off-season.  He began building boats in 1984.  He completes two or three boats from December to June.  He buys the fiberglass hulls from suppliers along the Maine coast and completes and outfits them. He describes the process and discusses changes in the industry over 20 years.  He and his wife Sharon have two children, Jason and Ellen, and one grandchild.  When he is not working, he enjoys hunting and playing.
