John F. Sherwin and James Salce are two prominent figures in the oyster industry, with a rich history dating back to the mid-20th century. Sherwin's journey began in the mid-1950s on Henry Street in Bridgeport, where he was first introduced to the world of oystering. He spent his early years observing and learning from the oystermen, eventually becoming a part of the industry himself. Sherwin's passion for the water and his dedication to the craft led him to a successful career in the oyster industry, where he made significant contributions.  James Salce has a deep-rooted connection with the Lewis Oyster Company, a separate entity in Bridgeport. His knowledge and experience in the industry have made him a valuable asset. Salce's insights and contributions have played a crucial role in the growth and development of the oyster industry. Both Sherwin and Salce are associated with Nutmeg Shellfish in Fairfield and Stratford.
