Carl Simmons is the oldest active lobster fisherman in Friendship, and was still lobstering six years after this interview. He quit school when he was 15 and has been lobstering ever since. When a fire caused significant damage in 2003, he borrowed a boat and continued lobstering all that summer. He has been lobstering for 65 years. In addition to fishing, he has been a carpenter and enjoys hunting as a hobby. He has three children and six grandchildren. In his interview he discusses his long life as a lobsterman. |
