Captain Lindsey Parker is a retired commercial fisherman and long-time captain of the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service’s research vessel, the Bulldog, where he worked from the early 1980s until his retirement around 2017. |

On February 28, 2025, Kristin Meewen and Logan Collins interviewed Mildred Boone at Boone Seafood in Darien, McIntosh County, Georgia, as part of the Dock Stories project. Mildred Boone was born and raised on a farm and married into the Boone family in 1961. Her in-laws purchased the dock that would become Boone Seafood, and although she was not initially involved in dock operations, she later worked as a secretary there in the 1980s. Boone has remained closely connected to the dock for decades through her family’s multigenerational involvement in commercial shrimping. |

On February 27, 2025, Kristin Meewen and Lilah Henderson interviewed Peggy Skinner at Skinner Seafood in McIntosh, Georgia, for the Dock Stories oral hisory project. Peggy Skinner is part of a long-standing commercial fishing family that has operated Skinner Seafood for decades. She and a group of women—primarily family members and spouses of fishermen—have historically run the dock, managing shrimp unloading, fuel, and sales operations. Her husband, Ricky, began shrimping at age thirteen and remains deeply involved in maintaining the dock infrastructure. |

On March 1, 2025, Kristin Meewen and Blake Pavri interviewed Rhea Whitthoft and Pat Brannan in McIntosh County, Georgia, for the Dock Stories oral history project. Rhea Whitthoft and Pat Brannan are lifelong residents of McIntosh County with deep ties to the commercial fishing industry. Whitthoft grew up next to Meridian Shrimp Company, a family-owned dock operated by her parents and grandfather. Though she did not work formally on the dock, she contributed occasionally and observed the daily activity. |

On February 27, 2025, Kristin Meewen and Lilah Henderson interviewed Suzanne Forsyth in McIntosh County, Georgia, for the Dock Stories oral history project. Suzanne Forsyth is a third-generation dock owner and manager whose family has been associated with the Valona dock for nearly a century. Her grandfather established the business in the 1930s, transitioning from oysters to shrimp. Her husband and other relatives operated boats, while she managed the fish house. Forsyth has lived in Valona her entire life and draws on decades of experience in Georgia’s commercial shrimping industry. |

Terry Chuang | Dock Stories |
On February 28, 2025, Lilah Henderson and Blake Pavri interviewed Terry Chuang in Darien, Georgia, for the Dock Stories oral history project. Terry Chuang immigrated to the United States from Taiwan in 1981. After earning a graduate degree in computer science and working in the defense industry, he opened several restaurants in St. Louis. In 1999, Chuang relocated to Georgia to explore the seafood trade and ultimately transitioned into jellyfish processing, a unique niche that allowed him to support the local fishing community in McIntosh County. |
