Molly Graham
Mary Glackin was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1954. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1982 with a degree in computer science and coursework in meteorology. Mary started her career with General Electric before coming to the National Weather Service in 1997, where she worked for twenty years, working her way from Computer Specialist to Meteorologist to Program Manager for the Advanced Weather Forecast Information System. Mary became the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the National Satellite Data and Information Services (1998-2002) and then Assistant Administrator, Program Planning and Integration (2002-2007). From 2007 to 2021, Glackin served as Deputy Under Secretary for Operations at NOAA. She retired from NOAA in 2012 and worked for the Weather Company until 2019. She is the current President of the American Meteorological Society and Director of the Atmospheric Science and Climate Board for the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine.
